It's ok to blog about a blog right? I am just really impressed that Hillary Halstead Scott and her staff at Halstead Beads are doing so much to promote education in jewelry making both within their company and by offering resources to their customers. I was drawn to their blog by an article they did on me and Studio JSD, it was really nice to have the studio highlighted. While I was visiting the site, I had a look around and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of their online presence. It really reflects the quality of their customer service and commitment to the industry. Halstead Beads, small, classy, family operated in the US (over 40 years!) and my new favorite. http://www.halsteadbead.com/blog/2014/06/12/school-profile-julie-sanfords-studio-jsd/?fb_action_ids=10152058108367723&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_ref=.U6tGJRx4Y4U.like

I found a wonderful review by Gabriel Craig about a retrospective exhibit of my college metals instructor Paul Mergen. My car broke down on the day of the opening so I missed it completely... I was rescued by GVSU metals instructor Beverly Seley, but that's another story! I am so grateful to see Gabriel's article/review!! Paul Mergen is such a wonderful and generous person and he is also one of my absolute favorite teachers. His work is a fascinating combination of aesthetics reminiscent of Native American Culture with a nod to the styling of Alexander Calder. Gabriel Craig wrote this article for Art Jewelry Forum.
